The role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tax Manager to join our finance team in the private equity backed sustainable plastic manufacturing sector operating in over 25 locations globally. This role is pivotal in ensuring efficient compliance with all tax regulations, optimizing tax strategies, and supporting global business operations through effective tax planning. Given our recent merger, you will support our integration efforts and support the development of a truly global tax team. You will bring a deep understanding of corporate tax, indirect taxes, and international tax matters relevant to a global manufacturing business. You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams (located across the US, Canada and EMEA) to drive financial efficiency and compliance.
- Provide tax advisory support for business initiatives, including financing, mergers, acquisitions, and capital investments.
- Collaborate with treasury, finance, legal, and operations teams to ensure tax-efficient business practices.
- Manage and oversee various aspects of corporate tax compliance, including income tax, VAT, and other indirect taxes (such as US sales tax). Pioneer automation strategies across the tax process.
- Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company’s tax position while ensuring compliance with existing and emerging local and international tax laws. liaise with external tax advisors, auditors, and tax authorities as needed.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the business. Lead tax audits (proactive prevention) and manage any disputes or inquiries from tax authorities.
- Train and Mentor Junior Staff
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master’s degree or professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA, CTA) will be advantageous
- Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant tax experience, ideally with some time in both industry and an advisory firm.
- Strong knowledge of international tax regulations, with experience with debt financing or indirect taxes welcomed. Canadian and US tax experience would be useful.
