A vacancy has arisen for a Multi-skilled Engineer to join the team at our Rotherham site (S61).
Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, this is an integral role with responsibility for the maintenance of 17 injection moulding machines ranging from 90 to 2700 tonne and associated ancillary equipment including robots, material handling systems, conveyors and general facilities maintenance.
You will be responsible for carrying out PPMs across all machinery on site, to ensure safe and efficient operations.
You will have Engineering KPIs and manufacturing targets to achieve, which will include measures against OEE, Scrap, OTIF & energy.
This is a full-time role (40 hours per week) working to a 3 week rotating pattern:
Week 1 – Monday to Friday
Week 2 – 4 days worked between Monday to Friday & Saturday
Week 3 – 4 days worked between Monday to Friday & Saturday
Key responsibilities include:
- Carry out maintenance activities on site machinery through effective planned maintenance routines alongside reactive responses to unplanned breakdowns.
- Work to achieve Maintenance KPIs to ensure manufacturing targets are met.
- Identify and rectify equipment faults efficiently while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and regulations.
- Maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others at all times and be proactive in raising potential health and safety issues and the development of safety awareness.
- Work in line with 5S, SMED, Kaizen and Health & Safety systems within the factory.
- Support continuous improvement by monitoring equipment performance, efficiency, and waste reduction.
- Carry out routine equipment installations and support the implementation of new projects.
- Manage, lead and support on project work and CI initiatives (e.g. OEE, uptime, throughput, waste reduction, housekeeping and process improvement).
- Accurately log all work completed, maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities.
- Work alongside stakeholders other departments to ensure that skills and transferred across the Operations function to increase machine availability and drive improvements.
- Support training and development of junior colleagues and production operators, ensuring knowledge transfer on equipment and basic maintenance.
- Ensure clear shift handovers by effectively communicating key updates and actions.
About You
You will have:
- Ideally achieved a HND qualification in an engineering discipline, following a time-served recognised apprenticeship.
- Proven experience within a maintenance engineering role from within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- The ability to understand and amend engineering drawings/schematics and diagrams.
- Sound application of IT systems and Microsoft packages.
- The ability to work as part of a team or on your own initiative in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to be comfortable interacting at all levels of the organisation.
