The role
Production Packer – Night Shift (6:00 PM–6:00 AM)
Position Summary
The Production Packer is responsible for accurate verification, packaging, inspection, and palletizing of parts produced on assigned production lines during the night shift. This role ensures all work orders, packaging, labeling, and quality standards are met while maintaining strict compliance with Food Safety and GMP requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Production Verification, Packing, and Material Handling
Verify and log required information from Work Orders at each assigned or rotated production line, including packer identification, verification time, special instructions, packaging requirements, date, lot number, machine, and part information.
Track and verify lot and carton (box) information to ensure correct item numbers, parts per container, press identification, carton numbering, and lot sequencing per production order.
Ensure carton labels are completed accurately, staged at the press, and used in proper numerical order; confirm labels are used in full before obtaining new sets.
Construct cartons as needed and pack parts according to Work Order instructions and documented quality standards.
Restock production presses with correct packaging materials while running and prior to rotating to another press or end-of-shift relief.
Arrange cartons on pallets/skids in the proper configuration as directed by the Work Order and/or Supervisor.
2. Quality, Equipment Monitoring, and Safety Compliance
Inspect parts on all sides as they are removed from handling equipment to ensure compliance with documented quality standards; identify and remove defective parts while maintaining packing efficiency.
Pack parts designated for sort, rework, or repack when authorized by a Supervisor or Quality Auditor.
Respond to machine back-ups or issues by letting parts out of the back of the press and sorting good parts for shipment while segregating defective parts for regrind.
Monitor equipment performance, report abnormal operation, and notify Supervisor, Quality, or Technical Operations personnel of alarms or process issues.
Safely shut down equipment in the event of a major oil leak or safety concern.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area, especially during production downtime.
Strictly adhere to all GMP, Food Safety, and safety policies and procedures at all times.
Education and Experience
Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
Experience working in a fast-paced production environment is a plus.
Strong time management and organizational skills required.
